Add-Remove Programs
Just as the name implies, the Windows XP Add-Remove Programs utility allows you to install or uninstall software from your PC. I would say most of time you'll be using this utility to uninstall software rather than installing, since most software is installed by a CD, and will begin automatically when you place the CD into your computer.
To begin, let's go to START>Control Panel>, this is where you will find the utility along with many others. Just click on the appropriate icon to bring up the window shown below.

From here, click on the software that you want to uninstall in order to highlight it. Once highlighted, you'll see two buttons become available on the right-hand side of the highlighted box. One of the buttons says "Change" and the other "Remove". The "Change" button allows you to modify the installation settings of software that you have already installed.
To uninstall the highlighted software click on the "Remove" button. Follow the prompts as necessary to complete the uninstall. Once the software has been removed, you may be prompted to restart your PC. Most often, you'll be given a choice of whether to restart your PC now or later. If a restart is unnecessary, the software listing will disappear from the Currently Installed Programs list.
